Line-up

The band’s third album, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet style of previous albums. It was a stronger, more consistent effort with an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. The more edgier sound of Turn Back reflected the development of the group. The drummer Bobby Kimball’s increasing virtuosity was reflected by the vocal delivery of Joseph Williams, who had grown more confident and mature. David Paich’s keyboard playing was also sharper, more complex and less akin to previous recordings.

After touring to promote their album, the group recorded an Amsterdam live show that was released by Eagle Records as a 2-CD set entitled Falling In Between.
