The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Make sure to check your robot’s brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin at the bottom. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we’ve tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They’re also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It’s therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn’t navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn’t have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
Still, it’s very good, especially if you want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It’s also extremely quiet and best Robot Hoover works while you are at work or at school. It’s not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It’s also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don’t stay on very well and can’t take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It’s the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum uk vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It’s a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we haven’t seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company’s robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It’s also the only robotic vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings prior to work or at night when you’re trying to fall asleep.
It’s also somewhat expensive, although it’s not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you’re willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs’ range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock’s S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum’s trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot vacuum cleaner best makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also features “Intelligent Dirt Detection”, which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with the degree of dirt they are.
If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or Best Robot Hoover spot cleaning modes. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to continue where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It does a stellar job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we’ve examined. It’s self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any “no-go” areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app has a range of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than other robot cleaner with mop vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It’s more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we’ve examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can’t be used as an emptying bin.
