Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you’re looking for a buggy to jog with or just a compact stroller for the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies offer great mobility. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver even in tight spots.
For a smooth ride, opt for a pram with air-filled tyres and look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. However, they are more prone to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with an repair kit.
Sturdy frame
New figures show that three-wheeled buggies that were the symbol of the decade that were more expensive than common sense, are in steep decline. Four-wheelers have replaced them, which are more versatile and easier to drive and look elegant.
The larger the wheels are, the better your buggy can deal with bumpy surfaces and uneven pavements. The larger wheels both rear and front enable you to move and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tried this buggy on the newborn baby as well as a child who was lightest 3 wheel stroller years old and found it extremely durable. It handled grass, cobbles and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She noted that it was solid to push and very stable on difficult terrain. The tyres, that are inflatable and need to be pumped up occasionally, have built-in suspension. This was extremely comfortable for my kids.
Another thing to take into consideration is the size and shape. It should be large enough for your child’s comfort. You will also need it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies have the option of lying flat, which allows the child to face you, while other buggies only allow a parent-facing one.
The Roma Atlas is a great alternative for off-road or walking in muddy areas. This buggy is suitable for a single child from birth and can be adjusted to accommodate two children as your family expands. It is suitable for infants and toddlers up to age 4 and comes with a bumper bar, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat unit. Storage options are also great, with a large basket and zip pockets on the hood, and an attractive pouch at the rear of seat unit.
Larger wheels
Larger wheels will give your buggy more stability when driving over rough terrain. This is perfect for buggies designed for off-road use. They also allow you to maneuver the pushchair through narrow spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that help you navigate around corners with ease, whereas others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability with which they can be driven. This is also useful if you crash into a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will lift slightly to prevent hitting it.
Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air-filled tyres. This means they can handle a variety of terrains and are more flexible than four wheelers. They also tend to be lighter. However, they’re susceptible to punctures, so you’ll need to keep an repair kit, spare inner tube, and pump on hand.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo lux are some of our favourite 3-wheelers. These buggies, according to MFM’s Kath, have larger wheels that, she says “perform well on gravel roads, grass and market town cobbles” and are able to move up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension system that, in her words “smoothes out bumps very effectively”.
The downside of having bigger wheels is that they make some buggies quite wide and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This can be an issue especially if you’re using it to an exercise bike or to be able to get through narrow doorways when out and out and about. The majority of models come with compact folding options, which allow you to remove the front wheels and store them in a more compact manner.
Easy to manoeuvre
One of the primary benefits of a three-wheel buggy is that it’s much easier to maneuver particularly with a child in tow. They are designed to ensure that the front wheels be turned on a dime and are easy to move, making them ideal for difficult terrain like cobblestones, parks, bumpy roads, and dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3 wheel buggy for sale-wheeler with her toddler. she wrote: “The Terrain is a pleasure to drive on rough terrain. The swivel wheel front was especially helpful.” I was also awed by how well it dealt with bumps, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. I found it extremely stable when driving downhill or on uneven ground.”
The only downside to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel double pushchair-wheel buggy may make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you need to be aware of when your home is an urban area. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeler might be a better option for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars will protect your child from bumps and scrapes while out and out and about. They are quick and easy to put in and will make your child feel secure and safe whilst out on the town or taking on tough terrain.

The fabric sling seat sits snug inside the frame as opposed to over it as modular seats, delivering the lowest center of gravity at the right height for your baby and also delivering an excellent weight distribution to facilitate kerb pop (it takes less effort to push the buggy over and up a curb than you might think). MFM reviewer Kath said it was ideal on cobbles and grass. It’s also a great option for running with its air-filled tyres as well as a lockable swivel wheel.
With a sophisticated and stylish appearance this bumper bar will surely attract attention wherever you go. Available in a variety of finishes and colours and designs, it can be tailored to match your style. The bumper bar can be installed and removed by a quick-release mechanism. Comfort

All Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous global stability standards and tests as 4-wheel buggies.
The seat is made of fabric that is tucked away inside the frame, not on top of it like modular seats, the Sport’s clever design allows it to have a lower centre of gravity at the right height for your child, giving you a more comfortable push, a less hefty curb pop (you don’t need any effort or weight to lift the hood of your buggy up and over a curb) and a better stability and balance. With the 16″ rear wheels, the lockable front wheel, and air-filled tyres, you can enjoy a smoother, more comfortable jog.

Kath the MFM reviewer, also loved the roominess of the buggy. There’s a easily accessible, large basket that is surprisingly spacious for a buggy that’s this big. Additionally, there’s an excellent pouch on the back seat unit, and 2 smaller mesh pockets under the hood, where you can keep your keys and phone.
